This is our finest trussing needle kit. Used to attach pig, lamb, chicken, duck, goose and turkey to our spits. For our SpitJack P150 "Beast" Rotisserie ;this kit is essential.

To keep your food from spinning on the spit you need to rig it securely. By tightly lashing the backbone directly to the spit (over 2" diameter in our case) you ensure it will not "flop" during cooking (which can be over 12 hours). The smaller needle is used to stitch up the belly and tidy any other loose ends. Our hog trussing kit consists of;

  • 1 heavy-duty stainless steel "beef" needle with poly (dishwasher safe) handle (14")
  • 1 6" trussing needle
  • 1 ball of authentic butchers twine (85 feet, 24 strand)
  • 2 pairs of extra-heavy (8 mil.) nitrile prep gloves with long cuffs

Bought separately with shipping, this package would cost over $50.

This actually came with the rotisserie I ordered and I wasn't sure what to do with it. But when I started to prep the pig, I knew I couldn't have gotten by without it. You basically stitch the pigs backbone to the spit and that's what keeps it from flopping around during cooking. Gloves were useful too.
