Master Chef Cooking Series
Bruce Frankel

Well known to Boston area diners, Bruce Frankel owned restaurants in Boston (The Colony) and Cambridge (Panache) before calling it quits in 1992. Since hanging up his chef’s whites, he has worked as a restaurant consultant and started a web site design business. Now he runs an on-line business selling SpitJack, an authentic fireplace rotisserie that he imports from Italy. His interest in fireplace cooking comes from a book he received two years ago – William Rubel’s “The Magic of Fire”. Living in a house with an inefficient heating system, Frankel started making fires at night and trying some of Rubel’s recipes. Fireplace cooking plays an important role in the slower-paced lifestyle that he now enjoys. Bruce knows a lot about this kind of cooking method as he first researched it 20 years ago before opening one of his restaurants. He is a superb cook who strongly supports regional cooking and local agriculture, seeking out the best in seasonal ingredients. New England cuisine has always been on the front burner for Frankel. Sessions, held at Sakonnet House, are limited to 12 people. Students may ask a guest for dinner for an additional charge of $40. 10% discount (class only) for AIWF members. To reserve space, please call 401-635- 8486 x 112. For cancellation more than two weeks prior to class, fee will be refunded only if the space is filled (less $10 cancellation fee). No fee will be refunded for cancellation within two weeks of class.
